Receiving accurate information quickly helps you respond effectively during emergencies when time is limited. Alerts provide clear instructions that support smarter, safer decision‑making in rapidly evolving situations.

How will I receive alerts?

When you sign up, you choose how to receive alerts.

Messages may be delivered by:

  • Text message
  • Phone call (mobile and/or landline)
  • Email
  • Accessible devices such as TTY/TDD

What types of alerts will I receive?

AC Alert is used for serious incidents that may impact public safety, including:

  • Evacuation warnings and orders
  • Shelter-in-place instructions
  • Wildfires
  • Earthquakes
  • Public safety incidents
  • Other life‑safety threats

Note: Alerts are targeted to specific areas, so you receive messages relevant to your location. AC Alert is used to send important, local emergency notifications, including evacuation warnings and orders, public safety information, road closures, wether alerts, and other time-sensitive emergency alerts.

Alerts may appear in different formats depending on how you receive them:

  • Text messages provide short, immediate instructions
  • Phone calls deliver recorded voice messages
  • Emails provide more detailed information

How do I sign up?

Signing up is free and only takes a few minutes:

  1. Go to ACAlert
  2. Enter your contact information
  3. Add locations such as home, work, or school
  4. Choose how you want to receive alerts

Why Update Your Profile?

Even if you have signed up for AC Alert, it is a good idea to review and update your contact information regularly to ensure you do not miss important emergency notifications.

  1.  Choose how you would like to receive notifications (e.g., text, phone call, email, or mobile app).
  2. Add multiple phone numbers and email addresses for redundant communication methods.
  3. Update your home, work, and other important locations you frequent.
  4.  Ensure you receive alerts for the areas that matter most to you.

    Do I need to sign up for AC Alert if I already receive emergency alerts on my phone?

    Yes. Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) may reach your phone automatically, but AC Alert provides more detailed, location-specific information and allows you to receive emergency alerts through multiple channels.

    Is there a cost to sign up?

    No. AC Alert is free to use.

    Is my information safe?

    Yes. The information that you provide is only used by authorized public safety agencies to send emergency alerts. We will not give or sell your contact or location information to any vendor or other organization.

    Can I update or remove my information?

    Yes. You can log in at any time to update your contact information, add locations, or remove your account.

    How do you receive critical weather alerts directly to your phone?

    By updating your contact information in our community’s AC Alert Emergency Notification System, you can receive automated weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service directly to your phone, email, or mobile public safety app. These alerts may include:

    • Severe Thunderstorm Warnings
    • Flash Flood Warnings
    • Tornado Warnings
    • Extreme Heat Warnings
    • Red Flag (Fire Weather) Warnings
    • Winter Storm Warnings
    • Other significant weather hazards affecting our community
